Weaving Hope: Empowering Afghan Women Through Skills
Building a Better Future Together
In the rural regions of Afghanistan, widows and women often face overwhelming challenges, struggling to support their families with limited resources and few opportunities to earn a livelihood. Traditional skills, like carpet-making, are part of Afghanistan’s rich cultural heritage and can provide women with a way to generate income while building a sustainable future. By teaching these skills, we can empower Afghan women, giving them both an opportunity to learn and a path to financial independence.
Qalam Relief is committed to building a Carpet-Making School for Women in these rural communities. This school will offer widows and women from disadvantaged backgrounds the chance to learn the art of carpet weaving, creating high-quality carpets that will be sold to support their families. The proceeds from these carpet sales will be reinvested in the program, sustaining it and helping even more women benefit from this life-changing opportunity.
